Washington, D.C. The Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) announced today the appointment of Clarence K. C.K. Lee as Regional Director of the OTS Midwest Region.
Lee, currently Managing Director for Complex and International Organizations in Washington, will assume his new position in Dallas on May 5. He will be responsible for the examination, supervision and regulation of thrift institutions and their holding companies in 13 states.
I am pleased that C.K. Lee will be overseeing OTS supervision in this key section of the American heartland, said OTS Director John Reich. His strong leadership skills and keen insight will serve him well in this important position.
Lee joined OTS in 2004 as the senior advisor for international operations and he assumed his current position the following year. He began his career in 1994 as a legislative assistant to Rep. Charles T. Canady of Florida. He later served as a senior policy advisor to Sen. Connie Mack of Florida, working for five years on Senate Banking Committee matters that included the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act. In 2001, Lee joined the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as a special advisor to the Chairman.
Lee has a master's of science degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a bachelor's degree in Journalism with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
The Office of Thrift Supervision, an office of the Department of the Treasury, regulates and supervises the nation's thrift industry. OTS's mission is to ensure the safety and soundness of, and compliance with consumer protection laws by, thrift institutions, and to support their role as home mortgage lenders and providers of other community credit and financial services. OTS also oversees the activities and operations of thrift holding companies that own or control thrift institutions.
