Peggy Sherry

Peggy Sherry is the Principal Deputy Comptroller for Management and Chief Financial Officer in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

In her role, Ms. Sherry oversees an annual operating budget of approximately $1 billion. In addition to her financial duties, Ms. Sherry is responsible for strategic planning for the agency, as well as governance, risk compliance and project management for the Office of Management. Ms. Sherry assumed these responsibilities when she joined the agency in September 2016.

Ms. Sherry also served as the Acting Senior Deputy Comptroller for the Office of Management, responsible for the OCC's departments of financial management, human capital, administrative operations, and information technology from July – October 2022.

Prior to joining the OCC, Ms. Sherry served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). There, she oversaw the agency’s accounting and budget system and led resource planning, budgeting, accounting, procurement, internal controls, and facilities management efforts. She also served as executive in charge of strategic planning, risk management, and performance management.

Prior to her role at the NCUA, Ms. Sherry served as Deputy Commissioner, Operations Support, at the Internal Revenue Service. She was responsible for the IRS's financial management, human capital, administrative operations, and information technology operations. Prior to that, she served as Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Homeland Security where she oversaw a $40 billion budget and a $550 million Working Capital Fund. Her public service also includes senior level finance positions at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office. 

Ms. Sherry holds a master of science degree in accounting and finance from the University of Maryland University College and a bachelor of science degree in accounting from George Mason University.
