Jeffrey Brown has been named Director of the Risk Analysis Division, the Office of the Comptroller (OCC) announced today. As director, Brown will be responsible for providing expertise on quantitative methods for measuring risks in bank portfolios and for analyzing and supporting the development of supervisory policies intended to limit national banks' risk-taking. He reports to James Kamihachi, Deputy Comptroller for Economic and Policy Analysis.

Brown joined the OCC in 1987 as a financial economist. He has worked in several capacities in the agency's economics division and analyzed a wide range of issues, including the condition of the national banking system, the condition of commercial real estate markets, real estate loan valuation and regulatory policies on loan loss reserving. Most recently, as deputy director of the Risk Analysis division, he has played a significant role in the department's efforts to provide direct support to bank examinations.

Brown has an M.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from Brown University, and a B.A. in political science and economics from the University of Iowa.
