OCC Names David Nebhut Senior Deputy Comptroller for Economics

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today announced the selection of David Nebhut to be the agency’s Senior Deputy Comptroller for Economics.

“David brings more than 33 years of OCC experience with him to this position,” said Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry. “As Acting Senior Deputy Comptroller for Economics, he has been an effective voice for positive change. The agency benefits from his insightful counsel and remarkable expertise, and I know he will succeed in leading our Economics department and contributing as one of our agency’s senior leaders.”

Mr. Nebhut has served as Acting Senior Deputy Comptroller for Economics since July 2013. He has been Deputy Comptroller for Economic and Policy Analysis since 2011, overseeing economic analysis of policy developments, the application of quantitative methods to assessing compliance risk, and stress-testing scenario design. Mr. Nebhut previously served as Director for Policy Analysis and oversaw a staff of economists and policy analysts who identify emerging issues of potential importance to the agency and support the development of policy related to those issues through the application of economic analysis and related tools.

Prior to joining the OCC in 1980 as a Financial Economist, Mr. Nebhut taught economics at Northwestern University and worked for the Olin Chemical Company. Mr. Nebhut received his bachelor’s degree in economics with highest distinction from Pennsylvania State University in 1976 and completed his course work for a doctorate in economics at Northwestern University.
